Elvis is alive and well — or at least he was when we found him living in the lap of luxury just a few days ago — in Cloverdale.
He was reclining on a velvety pillow-soft bed at Cat Utopia — B.C.’s newest “boutique hotel” for felines — and sitting at his feet was his constant companion, Priscilla.

Old McDonald had a farm. Cathy and Darcy McDonald put their Surrey acreage to a very different use. Rather than load it up with livestock, they’re filling it with felines.
We’re not discussing a bunch of barn cats here, but rather the pampered clientele of B.C.’s first cat boutique hotel, Cat Utopia.
The 1,100-square-foot, custom-built complex contains 34 private rooms, each featuring a window ledge with a view, plush cat bed, climbing post and litter box. In-floor heating ensures that your pet stays cozy while watching the activity around one of the on-site bird feeders provided for entertainment. A burning fireplace and overstuffed sofa for lounging on are included while the virtual aquarium or birds of the world DVD plays on the giant flatscreen TV.
You can’t stay there. Cats only.
